2009 National Science Education Symposium for Scientists, Engineers, and Community Leaders

A Strategic Program to Develop Informed Leadership for Changing the Course of Science Education

Do you have a vested interest in cultivating a technologically competent workforce? A scientifically informed citizenry? The 2009 National Science Education Symposium will explore ways in which you can channel your leadership skills in a new direction. Come join a network of committed and distinguished leaders who are successfully advancing science education in the United States.

Hosted by the National Science Resources Center- an organization of the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institition

Sunday night, June 14, through Tuesday at noon, June 16, 2009

Who Should Attend:

Leaders from business, the science and engineering communities, foundations,universities, government, and other organizations that have a stake in improving science education.

Symposium Goals:
  • Develop a shared vision for effective K–16 science learning and teaching
  • Learn about research and best practices in science education.
  • Examine and discuss the characteristics of effective programs at the school district and state levels.
  • Learn how to form effective partnerships for sustaining systemic K–16 science education reform.
  • Share and discover ways to get involved in science education reform.

Cost:

$500 per participant

Materials, continental breakfast, and a full lunch each day, plus one dinner at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. are included in the registration fee. Transportation and lodging expenses are not included.
