2009 National Science Education Symposium for Scientists, Engineers, and Community Leaders

A Strategic Program to Develop Informed Leadership for Changing the Course of Science Education

Do you have a vested interest in cultivating a technologically competent workforce? A scientifically informed citizenry? The 2009 National Science Education Symposium will explore ways in which you can channel your leadership skills in a new direction. Come join a network of committed and distinguished leaders who are successfully advancing science education in the United States.

Hosted by the National Science Resources Center- an organization of the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institition

Where:	Washington, D.C.
When:	Sunday night, June 14, through Tuesday at noon, June 16, 2009
Who Should Attend:	Leaders from business, the science and engineering communities, foundations,universities, government, and other organizations that have a stake in improving science education.
Symposium Goals:	Develop a shared vision for effective K–16 science learning and teaching Learn about research and best practices in science education. Examine and discuss the characteristics of effective programs at the school district and state levels. Learn how to form effective partnerships for sustaining systemic K–16 science education reform. Share and discover ways to get involved in science education reform.
Cost:	$500 per participant Materials, continental breakfast, and a full lunch each day, plus one dinner at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. are included in the registration fee. Transportation and lodging expenses are not included.
